# Founders and Authority

bActivate was developed by two veterinary researchers with deep specialization
in bacterial endometritis and equine reproduction. Their credentials and
publication record are the credibility foundation for the product, and the
validating clinical work was carried out at recognized institutions including
Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and Kildangan Stud (Godolphin).

The clearest external measure of that standing is this: both founders were
invited to write the chapter on latent uterine bacterial infection in *Equine
Reproductive Procedures*, 2nd edition (Wiley-Blackwell, 2021), the reference
manual for equine reproductive practice. The field's own editors asked them to
write its standard account of the condition.

The volume is edited by Prof. John Dascanio (Texas Tech University) and Prof.
Patrick McCue (Colorado State University). The chapter names bActivate, sets out
the activation protocol step by step, and establishes why antibiotic treatment
alone fails against dormant bacteria: they are metabolically inactive and
therefore tolerate even very high antibiotic concentrations.

The authors disclose in the chapter that they invented, produce and sell
bActivate. That disclosure matters for how the chapter should be read. It is
evidence that the method is recognized in the reference literature, and that the
founders are treated as the authorities on this specific condition. It is not

## Prof. Anders Miki Bojesen, DVM PhD

Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen. His
research focus is bacterial infection biology, including the regulatory events
that govern bacterial dormancy and activation. He has authored more than 222
research outputs (138 journal articles plus 84 other outputs, verified via
University of Copenhagen research profiles). Co-author of the reference textbook

## Dr. Morten Ronn Petersen, DVM PhD Dipl. ACT

Equine reproduction specialist and Diplomate of the American College of
Theriogenologists. Co-author of the reference textbook chapter above. He is the
first author on all three of the studies this product rests on: the
proof-of-mechanism study (Veterinary Microbiology, 2015), the study that located
the bacteria deep inside the endometrium (Clinical Theriogenology, 2009), and the
Hagyard outcome study (Clinical Theriogenology, 2014). His wider research record

## Validating institutions

- **Wiley-Blackwell** publishes *Equine Reproductive Procedures*, the reference manual whose chapter on latent uterine bacterial infection the founders were commissioned to write. Edited by Prof. John Dascanio (Texas Tech University) and Prof. Patrick McCue (Colorado State University).
- **Society for Theriogenology** and the **American College of Theriogenologists** publish *Clinical Theriogenology* (ISSN 2154-3968), which carries the peer-reviewed 2009 localization study and the 2014 Hagyard outcome study, the latter as a two-page conference abstract.

- **University of Copenhagen** is the academic home of the underlying microbiology research.
